Today we finally had good weather after weeks of cold and snow, so we took advantage to get outside for a walk. It was still a bit windy, so we decided to stay inland a bit to help knock down the wind. We made our way to the Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center for a walk along their trails in the woods.
Turns out it was still a bit snowier than expected and the trails are not the most friendly to the stroller, but we made it around the meadow and forest trails without too much difficulty, and Natalie enjoyed the bouncy ride to help rock her to sleep.
It was a beautiful day with bright sunshine and temperatures in the 40s. We took a leisurely pace to keep the bouncing down a bit, and to keep from slipping too much. I’m not sure that the stroller is the best option in the future as the trails are a bit narrow and bumpy, and clearly intended for walking. There was a fair amount of cars in the parking lot, but we barely saw anyone on our walk.

After getting back to the Nature Center, we saw some of the raptors that they house up close and personal. They seemed to be enjoying the sunshine.

A Starbucks trip on the way home, and then I took some time to start installing some outlet covers. Natalie is not a problem, and hopefuly won’t be getting into the outlets for a while, but Fitz has been doing some pretty major damage to the various USB cables lately. Baby monitors, sound machines, and phone chargers are all falling to his destructive chewing, so hopefully the new covers will help protect the cables (and him!).
The Dreambaby covers went on smoothly, but the USB adaptors that we had were all too big to fit in the cover. After some digging through cabinets and piles of cords, I found some smaller ones from Apple that did barely fit. After you wrap all the cord up and stuff it into the cover, it all is pretty low profile, so the covers might be staying on for a while.
We also put a gate at the top of the stairs, and it turns out that we are probably going to need the time to practice using it. Its a bit of a narrow gate, and is turning out to be a bit odd. I think we are starting to get used to it, but we aren’t sure if the cats will be able to get over the gate when its closed.
Natalie continues to work on crawling, but has figured out other ways to move around. She can get fully on her hands and feet, and can move forward a bit, but is also pretty good at moving sideways and rotating. There is a lot less frustrated backwards motion when she is trying to get to a toy, and she clearly loves the challenge of learning how to move her body around.
Tomorrow is supposed to bring some big snow again, and maybe we’ll be able to get outside if it isn’t too cold and windy.
The plank pose is still one of my favorite photos. Spring is coming!!!
