Time is flying! Natalie turned 5 months old on Thursday and is motoring on to half a year.

We are glad that she is moving through her 4 month regression and starting to settle in better at night. There were a couple of weeks at Christmas, where she suffered from pretty bad gas causing her to wake up often at night until she was able to work out the gas. She usually had problems right when we were starting to go to bed and then around 2 or 3 in the morning, so it was a couple of tired nights. She seems to be doing better at getting through the gas and is back to being able to get back to sleep herself or with minimal help from us.
Napping remains a struggle during the day with most naps only lasting 30 minutes, but she does seem to be okay despite that.
All of the trouble that she causes at night is worth it as we see her developing and growing almost daily sometimes. They say that some of the sleep troubles can come from her focusing on learning new skills at night, and sometimes it sure seems like that is the case. Natalie rolls from back to front all the time and is pretty happy on her stomach for the most part. She is doing quite good at sitting and gets more straight up every day. She still takes some spills backwards when she’s sitting, but usually someone is there to keep her upright.
When she’s on her stomach she loves to push up on her hands and feet, and is starting to hold it longer and longer. We assume this means that she’s going to start fiiguring out crawling soonish, and are starting to think about baby proofing a bit more.
We started to feed her some oatmeal and green beans were added this week. I have my doubts about how much actually gets into her stomach, but she seems to be enjoying the new tastes and textures.
The kitties are starting to get in on the raising as Natalie starts to learn how to pet her. Fitz is still on his destructive part of life, and has to be watched carefully as he tends to see baby toys as his own. He particularly likes soft chewable items like soothers, teethers and pump parts.
Love that Puffin!
David – Thanks for the update. My favorite photos are “in the box” and the “sweater/hat outfit”. I’m also wondering how many spoons it takes to feed a baby??
Sometimes she likes to try the spoon out, so then you need a decoy spoon to keep the main feeding spoon cleanish. So at least two, but sometimes more.
It is a pretty outfit with the hat. She can’t wait to show it off some day out of the house.
