July 3-9: Week in Review

Forrest Family, Natalie

A pretty busy week was had by all with the holiday weekend and tropical storms coming through.

Saturday was a generally wet day, so we did some shopping. First to Target to get some school supplies and backpacks to donate at Marissa’s work, then to Lowes for more mulch, back home to drop off the mulch and then finally a trip to Costco for some more diapers…. that turned into lots of other stuff as well.

Sunday was supposed to be a better day weather wise, but it ended up not deciding what it wanted to do. Natalie and I went to the Groton 4th of July parade to check it out while Marissa stayed home and relaxed a bit and cleaned a bit.

The parade was okay, and we caught the beginning of it despite being 45 minutes late, and it was over in an hour or so. We didn’t watch much of the parade, but we found a grassy spot, and Natalie spent her time walking around the stroller and taking some steps between the stroller and my chair.

After the parade, Natalie napped a bit in the car while I spread more mulch on the garden and got it pretty much wrapped up as it started to drizzle.

Monday plans became what the Sunday plans had been before the weather worsened. We played around in the afternoon and then we went up to Ken and Michol’s cabin in the evening to watch the fireworks that their lake association puts on for the 4th. They were delayed a day this year to hope for better weather, and it all seemed to work out. Natalie had a good time hanging out and exploring the cabin and the deck, and then she managed to sleep through some of the neighbours fireworks. Once the big show started she woke up, but was happy to snoooze in my arms in the back room. We had a late return home, but it was a nice evening and Natalie was very well behaved.

Tuesday was back to work and was back to warm temperatures with high humidity. Evening thunderstorms rolled through Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday night. Natalie had some new toys come in and has been enjoying those.

Today we had the remnants of Tropical Storm Elsa come through with a lot of rain in the morning, but not so much wind. Natalie was safe and sound in her new rain coat, and we had a beautiful sunny afternoon.

Natalie keeps getting better at walking everyday and is motoring around.
